Storm chasing is an activity pursued mainly by hobbyists and amateurs that pursue natural phenomena that can be called severe or dangerous. The term is broadly applied to storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and similar phenomenon.
The objective of storm chasing can be gathering data on the event, information for media-related purposes such as news / documentaries or the most common one...thrill. The majority of storm chasers are thrill-seekers (although very serious about this persuasion). They will think nothing about traveling hundreds miles or more to see the different cloud structures, experience hail and high winds, and mother nature in a different mood.
Very few storm chasers are full-time professionals.
